Siobhainn O'Connor

Growing up in the O'Connor house, the radio show was a constant in our lives, a pesky member of the family.   It required constant attention, sometimes it needed extra help, and frankly, sometimes it was just a huge pain in the rear.

Siobhainn became a permanent fixture on the The Mike O'Connor Show in 1991.  She was booted straight into the fire.  Quickly, her responsibilities increased.    She started selling air time and managing guests during the program.  Mike was oh, so thrilled.  He felt free to take Saturdays off whenever he desired-but always listened very closely to the show.  There was always a critique ready.  Siobhainn took over all the duties  when Mike became ill.  His interest never waned; he would inquire after the program even after his mental abilities failed in so many other areas.

He was absolutely delighted and pleased that the legacy he created continues.

Bridget Ellen Looney(Breege)

Bridget came up The Mike O'Connor show around 1986 to advertise a benefit.  Before she knew what was happening, she was answering phones and taking requests.  Mike had a way of asking for help without asking.  He wondered if she would be interested in taking on the phones and helping out with announcements.  Breege has been on the air since.  Originally from Belmullet, Co. Mayo, Ireland, Breege's connection to the Irish community in Chicago is legendary.  She and her husband Tom owned a fantastic pub & music venue called The Abbey Pub for many years.  They brought in fab bands and started the very first regular weekly Irish music Sesuin in Chicago.
